Online craps articles 1Expected Craps Etiquette
In playing craps some basic etiquette or behavioral rules should be followed. It is said that these rules are as important as the rules governing the game of craps. A craps player would be well advised to familiarize himself with these basic craps etiquette before even playing the game of craps. Most of the etiquette rules discussed here are about handling the dice when one becomes a shooter.
A good craps player must know that the casino only allows the shooter to handle the dice with only one hand. This is to prevent cheating or replacement of the dice in craps. It is expected that craps players do not play with the craps dice by placing the dice from one hand to another or by getting the dice beyond the edge of the table. If a change of hands is permitted, the craps dice must be set in the table first before getting them again by the other hand.
Be advised that in throwing the craps dice, the casino expects the craps dice to hit the opposite wall farthest from the shooter. The craps dice must be tossed and not slid across the table. In addition, the craps dice is not allowed to be thrown higher than the craps dealers' eye level. The craps dice are also not supposed to land on the dealers' stacks of money nor the boxman's bank.
In the event that the craps dice accidentally hit another craps player or any of the craps personnel and drops back to the table, it would still count as long as the person hit did not interfere or try to alter the landing of the dice.
Some casinos permit craps shooters to set the dice before rolling them. However, the shooter must be quick in setting the dice so as not to delay the game. Some casinos, however, do not allow the setting of the dice and the craps shooter must throw it as it was given to him.
Remember that craps dealers are not suppose to touch the craps players. This means the craps players cannot place his money on the craps dealer's hands or expect the dealer to hand over the chips. If craps players wish to change money to chips, he simply needs to place the money in the layout and say "change only" or say the amount and the bet. The craps dealer will then place the chips either in front of the player or on the layout.
